Training for professionals

I have been training others to support people in various ways for a number of years now. I love adapting my approach to my audience and their needs in addition to the evidence base, and I am really passionate about making sure as many people as possible can others with their emotional wellbeing in addition to identifying their own difficulties so they know when to reach out for support themselves.

CPD training packages relating to; suicide prevention, emotional wellbeing, mental health, and cognitive insight are in development for professionals. Further training packages will be introduced throughout 2020 to help a wider range of professionals feel comfortable in working with suicide and mental health. Training will also be aimed at helping individuals to gain insight into the ways in which they think, in order to help them with their emotional wellbeing.

Currently available training packages:

  • The ‘S’ Word- Suicide Prevention in Private Practice

Remote training:

This is a 4 hour workshop for counsellors and therapists working within private practice, delivered online via Zoom. The learning objectives are as follows;

  1. To understand when and how we might encounter suicide.
  2. To share experience of working with suicide.
  3. To feel comfortable in managing suicide risk and ethical responsibility within private practice.
  4. To feel confident in supporting suicidal clients.

This training package has been specifically created for this audience and has been developed in collaboration with Simon Howarth at Trust Therapy and Training, whom I have worked collaboratively with for three years as a suicide prevention advisor and trainer. Between the two of us, we have almost two decades of clinical experience in working with vulnerable people and in suicide prevention.

The training package is delivered by a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist and a person-centred counsellor together, so is designed to be relevant regardless of modality, and is based on a combination of research and clinical experience within the field.

Following the introductory offer for the first two sessions, the full price for a place on this training is £99 per person. Please get in touch to discuss discounted rates if you are in a service wanting to book multiple places on a workshop.
